Sooty ABC - Learn the Alphabet DVD *REVIEW*

Sooty, Sweep and Soo are such nostalgic characters for me. I was born in the mid 80's (1986) and I can vividly remember watching my Sooty VHS videos over and over again - I remember seeing the Sooty live shows too, with my mum and my twin sister in tow - and us shouting "Izzy wizzy lets get busy" at the top of our voices!

Some twenty something years on, I still remember the storylines of some of our Sooty videos, and the characters remain close to my heart. So, when I was asked if I would like to review a preview DVD of Sooty's newest adventure with his trusty friends Sweep, Soo, and of course, Richard (who has changed actor since my day), how could I say no? The nostalgia was too strong, and I thought it would be lovely to share a character so engrained in my childhood, with Bert.

I'm pleased to report that Bert seems just as enchanted by the little orange puppet, as I was - he particularly seemed to enjoy Sweep's squeaking & the slapstick comedy - he's a sucker for laughing when someone falls over (evil child!).

He was enchanted from the beginning!

Look at the concentration on his face!

He found his cuddly panda (now aptly named Soo!) and watched alongside her! *cute*

Kissing Soo!

The DVD see's Sooty, Sweep, Soo and Richard embark on a search to find words to match each letter of the alphabet in their surroundings (Wookey Hole, in Somerset), before a giant sand timer runs out - from A for Apple, N for Noodles, S for Stick, O for Orange, to Z for Zoo (and so on..) The DVD see's Sooty and the gang land themselves in all sorts of mischief, and ends with their version of the alphabet song!

Such nostalgia! Izzy Wizzy Let's Get Busy!!

The DVD supports the Early Years Curriculum, and engages children in a fun way which helps to develop their early literacy skills.

The DVD would be a perfect alternative Easter gift (much healthier than chocolate) and is packaged with a printed A-Z poster and also features three classic episodes from the hit CITV series: The Swimming Lesson, The Farm and Beach Patrol. It also includes printable worksheets to enhance the learning experience!

The DVD is on sale from today an can be bought online from the Sooty shop for just £6.99.

You can find out more about Sooty over on his Facebook page at Sooty Show Official.

If you loved Sooty as much as I did as a child, why not share Sooty's newest adventures with your little ones?

Bye for now
