Alphabetti Fun with my Gruffalo #HeinzPastaQuotes

Albert has recently discovered his love for books - they are his go-to toy of the moment!  He can already sit quietly turning each page, touching the images and listening right to the end of the story. His Dad is particularly proud of this as he is a major book-worm, and they love nothing more than sitting down together to share a story. As book-loving parents, we are majorly excited about being able to read him proper children's fiction such as Harry Potter and Narnia when he is big enough, but will settle for now with age-appropriate titles such as 'Where's Spot?' 'Dear Zoo' and Bert's favourite 'The Gruffalo'.

Children's Book Week 2014

This year, Children's Book Week takes place between 30 June - 4 July in the UK. Schools, libraries and other venues all over the UK will be hosting their own events and activities during the week, aimed at encouraging children to enjoy reading for pleasure, explore libraries and bookshops, and even start writing themselves.

TOTS100 & Heinz Competition

Heinz and Tots100 have teamed up to launch a fantastic blogger competition inspiring parents to educate their children at home!

Heinz is always looking to generate smiles at meal times by encouraging children to express their creativity. Children love to spell out their names and make interesting shapes using Heinz Alphabetti and Numberetti.

In line with Children’s Book Week, Heinz has taken this creative idea one step further, inviting you and your children to recreate a quote from your favourite children’s book using Heinz Alphabetti.

Not only does this competition allow you to enjoy tasty Heinz Pasta, it provides the perfect excuse to spend time with your children, making meal times fun.

That’s not all, we have an amazing prize up for grabs – you could win a year’s supply of Heinz Pasta and £250 worth of book vouchers!

Our Entry

We had so much fun tonight playing with Alphabetti spaghetti - Bert and I got very messy fishing out all the letters that we needed and he seemed to really enjoy the sensory experience.

I got busy spelling out our favourite quote…it was a fiddly job!

"There's no such thing as a Gruffalo"

Bert laughs and giggles every time we shout this recurrent phrase from the book - he seems to really recognise it and senses the anticipation of getting to see the different parts of the Gruffalo on the page.

Bert had the most perfect outfit for this competition….we hope you like it…

The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson is one of our favourite books - this photo is our entry into the TOTS100 and Heinz #HeinzPastaQuotes competition.

After we created our quote and had fun shooting the photo, Bert wolfed down a big bowl of Alphabetti - he'd worked up quite an appetite, bless him!

What's your child's favourite book?

Do you enjoy reading to your little ones?
